A Thought for Your Practice

About the Teacher

Hello! I'm Liza. I have been a practitioner of 'yoga' in its many forms for as long as I can remember, knowing intuitively the benefits of turning upside down and understanding that once trained, the body could be trusted to move without thought. At 18, I took my first yoga class and my adult journey in moving meditation began.

Throughout the years I have experimented with different expressions of yoga and meditation, most notably Bharata Natyam, the yoga of dance, then becoming a teacher of Qi Gong, and a practitioner of Tai Chi and a selection of the Shaolin arts.

Whatever the discipline, the magic occurs when the self is not. I look forward to sharing some of the things I have learned and accompanying you on your healing journey.

The Art Forms
Which practice is for you?

Yoga

Yoga connects the body, breath, and mind through physical postures and meditative practices. Cultivate strength, balance, flexibility, and a deep sense of inner quiet.

We will practice āsana (posture), prāṇāyāma (breath work), pratyāhāra (inner work), dhāraṇā (concentration techniques), and dhyāna (meditation) while connecting to the philosophies that teach us to live a life without conflict.

Qi Gong

This is the great Chinese art and meditative practice of xing qi or circulating energy. We will explore the essence of Yin Yang philosophy where power and softness, exertion and relaxation, and effort and non-effort all move together as one.

In our classes we will warm up with traditional kicks and punches (adapted to all levels), and work with simple but hugely powerful and transformative practices such as Ba duan jin (eight pieces of brocade) or Yi jin Jing (muscle tendon change classic). If you are feeling low on energy and vitality, this wonderfully preventative and restorative practice is for you.

Tai Chi

Often described as meditation in motion, Tai Chi (Tàijíquán) promotes serenity and connection through gentle, flowing movements and energy releases that guide the practitioner towards harmonious balance. It is the incredible Chinese martial art form translated for the health and longevity of lay people.

Learn the basics and some beautiful forms. Here we will let ourselves be fully inspired by nature, practicing outside when possible, moving like water, light as air. Choose this practice if you want to feel alive and at one with nature.

Compassionate Yoga Therapy

Compassionate Yoga Therapy is a unique approach I have developed to offer adaptive healing tailored to your overall body-mind health needs. These sessions gently weave yoga with Gabor Maté’s Compassionate Inquiry to explore how your physical body, emotions, and patterns are linked.

Grounded in a trauma-informed, somatic approach, we work with safety, attunement, compassion, breathwork, and gentle, long-held postures to support meaningful change and healing.
